Unlike the majority of the Western World, and I throw that out there loosely, I love Mondays. As a homeschooling parent, I have the good fortune of being able to spend pretty much every waking moment with my children. I am fortunate indeed in this regard. After 8 years of homeschooling, I can honestly say I wouldn’t want it any other way (most days).
However, I also have the good fortune of being part of a fantastic home school community. My children attend a hybrid school on Mondays, which means that they not only get social interaction, exposure to other teachers, great instruction in various subjects that I likely wouldn’t teach them….. the list goes on. In other words, it’s a great set up. As fantastic as all the above may be, the irreplaceably wonderful part about Monday is; I get a day off. What I mean is, I get a day to myself, sans noise, sibling bickering, and a constant stream of comments/questions like, “Mom, where is my longboard? Mom, I don’t have any clean underwear!, Mom, could you please tell Olivia to stop singing!, Mom, what is for lunch? When can you make lunch, because I didn’t get enough breakfast?!”
Most Mondays, I clean, organize, shop by myself (a truly wonderful phenomenon that I highly recommend), go to various appointments, etc. I don’t think that I’ve had a Monday during which I’ve indulged idleness, but it’s on my list to try, even amongst the busyness, there is a truly refreshing, unfamiliar sense of aloneness.
Essentially, Mondays are my friend, which brings me to my original point/blog title, Tuesdays are evil.
I usually wake at O’dark butt-spankin’ early on Tuesday, make coffee, sit at the computer and print off the day’s school assignments (posted assignments are another stellar benefit to our hybrid school gig). As I read the list of things my children and I will be studying, I get an odd sensation of panic and delight simultaneously. Panic-because there’s a lot to accomplish, and delight-because learning new things thrills my curious heart. After I take a deep breath and remind myself that I CAN do this, I move on to some other task, making breakfast, starting laundry, scrubbing the stove top, etc. Today, other task involved making pumpkin muffins, I cracked the egg shell a little too hard, splattered the egg, and I may or may not have said, “I hate Tuesdays!”
Cheerio, my fellow comrades! It’ll get better from here. Have a great school day, however you may be spending it.
Wow!
You seem to be like one busy mom! God bless your heart💚
I would encourage that idleness you have been putting off for a change! 🙂

Thank you so much. Yes, sometimes I fantasize about what idle might feel like. It’s on my list of things to experience. Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment. ☺️
